Hot Club Duo; Jim Plattes – Violin Robb Henry – Guitar
Loring Pasta Bar November 15 2014 with Erin Radtke Livingston
Parisota Hot Club was formed in 2001. Originally started as a twin-guitar, bass and violin quartet featuring Parisian expatriate Raphaël Fraisse ( 1974-2006 ) on violin; hence the name Parisota; Paris plus Minnesota. Original intention in getting together was to explore the Hot Club style music of Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli and to meet other Hot Club fanatics. First official date as Parisota Hot Club was at Brasserie Zinc in Minneapolis on Feb. 7 2002. At this time, it was the first Hot Club devoted to the jazz stylings of Reinhardt and Grappelli to appear on the Minneapolis/St. Paul music scene. It has since become the longest running Hot Club locally in the Twin Cities. Over the last 12 years Parisota Hot Club has become much more “Club-like” with a rotating cast of approximately a dozen musicians; bassists, drummers and various soloists sharing the stage on a regular basis with guitarist/bandleader Robb Henry.
Upcoming Date April 12 Jazz at St. Barney’s
Sharing the stage on this show will be violinist Tom Schaefer, whose first appearance with Parisota dates back to 2002. Jay Epstein on drums ( first PHC date early 2007 ) and Matt Senjem-bass ( first PHC dates 2005 ) will round out the rhythm section. Music on this program will feature many Django Reinhardt standards and favorites along with a few other eclectic selections from the 1960’s movie soundtrack and pop music genres. Those in attendance can look forward to hearing a fresh mix of sounds from the PHC repertoire.
